This guide explains how to create, edit, and delete Groups to organize campaigns and web pages under shared objectives. It covers inputting key details like objectives, buyer personas, and linking GA4-tracked pages and campaigns. You’ll also learn about managing campaigns and pages in the Components tab and using Groups for streamlined strategy alignment.
Navigating To Groups
Ready to dive in? To create or manage a Group, first navigate to a Campaign Group. From there, select the "Groups" tab in the navigation bar.
This will take you to the Associated Groups page, where all the Groups in the Campaign Group are neatly organized, so managing and navigating them becomes a breeze.
Creating A Group
Now for the fun part — creating your Group! To get started, head to the Associated Groups page and click the "Create New Group" button.
This kicks off a simple, guided process that walks you through each step to set up your Group effectively.
- Group Information: Provide basic details about the Group.
- Add Your Campaign Activities: View and select campaigns linked to the Campaign Group.
- Add Website Pages: Choose relevant webpages from Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to include in the Group.
Don’t worry, we’ll walk you through each step one by one.
Group Information
Once you click to create a Group, a popup will appear, allowing you to enter the following details:
- Group Name: Give your Group a clear, descriptive name so you can spot it easily later.
- Start Date: Choose a start date that fits your timeline, whether it’s up to one fiscal year in the past or up to three years in the future. Keep in mind that the Group will only include data from this start date onward. For example, if Campaign X began in January 2022 but your Group’s start date is set to January 2023, any data from 2022 will be ignored in Group reporting. This way, the Group focuses only on the data relevant to its active period.
- End Date: If you need an end date, make sure it’s after the start date. This can be set up to three years in the future. If you’re planning for this Group to be ongoing, you can leave the end date blank, and the system will know it's continuous.
- Primary Objective: What’s the main goal for this Group? Whether it’s Conversions, Brand Awareness, or something else, your choice will automatically tailor the top metrics to align with your objective.
- Secondary Objective: Got another goal that complements the main one? Add it here—this step is optional but helpful.
- Theme/Occasion: Is this Group tied to a specific event like a Holiday Sale or a product launch? Choose from predefined options or create your own custom theme using the "Other" field.
- Select Buyer Personas: Choose personas created at the Campaign Group level to target the right audience. If none are available at the moment you can always add personas later.
- Targeted Locations: Choose from the locations set at the Campaign Group level, ensuring alignment with your broader campaign strategy.
Once you're happy with the details, click "Next" to move forward.
Add Your Campaign Activities
This is where things get exciting! Now you’ll link the right campaigns to your Group. You’ll start with a handy overview of all your available campaigns.
The campaigns overview table helps you quickly compare which campaigns align with your Group’s goals by showing:
- Status: Easily spot which campaigns are Active (green) or Inactive (orange).
- Digital Campaign: Each campaign's name is displayed so you can identify them quickly.
- Start & End Dates: Check the timeline of each campaign to see how it fits into the Group’s plan.
- Success Metric: This shows how the campaign’s success is being measured — whether it's CTR, Conversions, or another key metric.
- Tags: You’ll see labels that describe the campaign type and objective, like "Brand Awareness" or "Holiday."
This table gives you a great snapshot of everything, making it super easy to decide which campaigns are the perfect fit for your Group’s strategy.
In the Digital Campaign column, you’ll see color-coded icons that indicate how each campaign's dates align with your Group.
An orange icon means the campaign partially overlaps with the Group’s date range, where either the start or end date falls outside the Group’s timeframe. A red icon indicates that the campaign is entirely outside the Group’s date range, meaning any data from it won’t be included in Group reporting.
This table gives you a great snapshot of everything, making it super easy to decide which campaigns are the perfect fit for your Group’s strategy. Once you’ve reviewed the campaigns in the table, it’s time to get them working for you. Just check the box next to each campaign that fits your strategy.
Associating these campaigns helps you track their performance and manage them all in one place.
Dealing with a long list of campaigns? No problem! You can use the Search and Filter options to quickly find the campaigns that matter most to your Group.
Whether you're searching by campaign name or filtering by status or tags, these tools make it easy to find specific campaigns. For example, if “Christmas 2024” is the theme, simply type “Christmas 2024” into the search bar, select all relevant campaigns, and you’re set!
Once you're happy with the campaigns you've selected, click "Next". A popup will appear where you'll need to confirm your selection.
You’re now ready to roll with a centralized view of your campaigns and how they contribute to your Group’s success!
Add Website Pages
We’re almost there! In this step, you can associate relevant website pages tracked via Google Analytics 4 (GA4). This lets you monitor page performance and understand how they help meet your marketing objectives.
If no GA4 account is connected to your Campaign Group, you’ll see a message notifying you that no webpages are available. Don’t worry, you can still proceed with creating the Group. Once a GA4 account is connected later, you’ll be able to associate webpages at any time, giving you flexibility in tracking performance down the line!
If your Campaign Group has a GA4 account connected, you’ll first see a dropdown menu labeled "Select GA4 Property". Select the property you want to use, and once chosen, a table will display the available webpages for that property.
From this table, simply check the boxes next to the pages you want to include in your Group.
Once you've selected the desired webpages, click the "Create Group" button to finalize the setup. This completes the process, and your Group will be ready for use, with all associated campaigns and webpages organized under your shared objectives.
Editing A Group
As your marketing goals evolve, you might need to edit your Group to stay aligned with your updated strategy. Grower makes it easy by offering two convenient ways to do this.
You can either click the edit icon in the Actions column of the Associated Groups table:
Or you can select “Edit Group” from the Settings Icon located on the right side of the Group's navigation bar:
Keep in mind that editing is limited to the Group Information section. If you need to modify the associated Campaigns or Website Pages, simply head to the "Components" tab within the Group.
If you adjust the Start or End Date of the Group, Grower will automatically update all related data, reports, and analytics to align with the new date range.
However, if the new date range excludes any campaigns that were previously within range, a red icon will appear next to those campaigns, and their data will show as zero, indicating they are now out of the reporting range.
Once you’ve made your changes, click “Save Changes” to save and update the Group, keeping it in line with your revised goals.
Deleting A Group
If a Group is no longer needed, Grower allows you to delete it easily. However, please be cautious, as deleting a Group is permanent and cannot be undone. You have two options for deleting a Group.
You can either click the delete icon in the Actions column of the Associated Groups table:
Or you can select “Delete Group” from the Settings Icon located on the right side of the Group's navigation bar:
Once you confirm, the Group and all associated data will be permanently removed from your account.
Be sure you're ready to delete before proceeding!
